Every collar and lead has Joy's personal touch and are made in her sunny workroom under the watchful gaze of the dogs with the burble of Radio 4 in the background. With a strong webbing core, the collars are covered in gorgeous American grosgrain ribbon or Kaffe Fasset's beautiful fabrics, lined with velvet and teamed with toning heart shaped tags. Joy's leads are double sided, have velvet lined grips for comfort and are available in a choice of three lengths. Coming soon is the "handsfree" lead and seaside inspired range of collars and dog duvets so make sure to bookmark Scrufts .... oh, and Joy makes everything to order, so don't hesitate to contact her with your own specific requirements.

How did you get started in the doggie fashion world ?
I sort of fell into it - having had a background in knitwear design when my son was little (he's now 30 and doesn't wear his mum's hand knitted's any more!) my creative juices were tickling me and as I have two beautiful Sussex Spaniels I wanted them to look their best. The pet stores seemed to sell very boring and twee collars and leads which I didn't like and so I sort of ran with it from there (with a stick between my teeth of course....) ruff ....

Q.What inspires your designs ?
Any fabric that I come across that I think would sing out from a dog's coat does it for me !

Q.How would you describe your creative process ?
Random ! If I'm out looking at fabrics then I'll buy some and see how it works, or I use my Googling finger and check out what's available worldwide.

Q.What do you like best about designing collars for dogs ?
It's relaxing and I get a real buzz out of seeing folk's faces. If they make people smile then that's fab.

Q.If you could do anything else,what would it be ?
Gardener, artist, potter, traveller .... Olympic swimmer !

Q.What is the best moment of the day ?
Out with my gals in the early morning and again around tea time, especially in the glorious sunny weather we have now, but to be truthful I don't even mind the rain and wind either ... it's so good for head clearing purposes.

Q.Benji or Lassie ?
Well, that has to be a "what era do you hail from" question and so it's Lassie !

Q.If you could have one and ONLY one Superpower what would it be?
Flight.
